Refer with Confidence Consumer Awareness No need to worry about your customers being confused by the complicated Rules and Regulations of the moving and storage industry. The NJWMA provides detailed information to inform consumers of their rights and responsibilities when they move. Explanation of Procedures We understand the way moving works; the rules, requirements and procedures. We spell it out on our consumer friendly website so the consumer understands what to expect to reduce problems caused by unrealistic expectations. We list step by step instructions to help them have a stress-free move. Estimates vs. Costs The association Website at www.njmovers.com helps consumers understand the importance of selecting the proper mover by qualifications, not by price. Consumers should be aware that the final cost of a move can be legally changed! That is a difficult lesson to learn on the day of the move; we can help avoid costly mistakes. The internet is a poor source of information for comparing the real cost of moving. We explain how to avoid that. The mover must come to the home to give the price and the consumer must be realistic about what they expect the mover to do, otherwise problems are sure to develop. The consumer is given a choice of qualified companies to select from to compare costs and information to help them make a good decision. njmovers.com Makes a Difference Our website is unique in several ways. We do not sell leads to movers. All moving companies are listed geographically by county; consumers can select companies of their choice without being inundated with phone calls or emails from unsolicited companies. All companies are qualified as licensed movers; we check each company's license with the N.J. Division of Consumer Affairs at the time of renewal. We also check with the BBB to make sure each company has a satisfactory rating. All companies agree to uphold our code of ethics and charge no more than their filed rates. Members Only Site Our website is exclusive to our members in good standing. We perform regular checks to verify that all listed movers comply with our membership standards since they are higher than the standards of the State of New Jersey for becoming a licensed mover. Only Established Movers Listed Not all movers qualify for our listing service; they must be established at least three years in business before they can be listed on our website. We Are More Than An Accreditation Many internet sites display logos to support the accreditation of the companies that they advertise, then they sell the leads to companies wanting to buy them. At NJWMA, we are the accreditation that so many companies are looking for. Our logo can’t be bought; they must qualify for membership. Complaint Resolution NJWMA files complaints of illegal moving activities with the proper regulatory authority. We also respond to consumer complaints against our members; members must settle complaints with-in proper timeframes and regulations. We will recommend any unresolved problems to be resolved by arbitration with the NJ Division of Consumer Affairs. Telephone Support The association office is available for agents or customers to ask questions about movers. Customers are not afraid to ask difficult questions to a third party; in the event of a problem, that's us! You limit your involvement. If necessary, we will contact the mover to clarify questions and provide the answer to them directly. Relationship With Division Of Consumer Affairs NJWMA works closely with the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs in order to recommend fair licensing standards and practices for established movers as well as newcomers to the industry. We encourage and participate in enforcement recommendations against “bandit” movers and illegal activities of some “less-than-professional” licensed movers. Code of Ethics
In the belief that our industry deserves our combined best efforts to advance itself, in order to better serve the general public, we are pledged to the concept within the framework to high principles of conduct. As participating members of the New Jersey Warehousemen and Movers Association, we therefore embrace this code: Never participate in business practices with the moving public and members of the industry, which are not in every respect fair and honest. Just treatment and integrity shall be adhered to in all dealings with the moving public and members of the industry. Working conditions and the welfare of all employees shall be given the highest consideration with special emphasis on health and safety. Mutual efforts shall be pursued toward improvement and maintenance of high standards for our industry, meeting and contractual obligations.
